Fans, if you need counseling, the Blue Jackets will be providing those services. Or at least they should be because depression is probably sitting in after losing three straight games, including a blown 2-0 lead in the third against the Bruins. You want to win championships? You can't blow two goal leads in the third. Just ask the Rangers.
This week’s results really have me worried. There were a lot of positives heading into this week’s action, but the Jackets were unable to parlay that into another set of wins. A total of 14 points in 20 games is just unacceptable and a difficult, but not impossible, start to overcome.
Lets start with the coming week. The Jets, Canucks and Panthers are on the slate. No game in the NHL is easy, but the Jets are a good team to get on track against. I would pencil this in as a must win game and attempt to generate some momentum for two tough teams later in the week.
Finally, the defense needs to tighten up. Yes, Goalie Bob had a major gaffe against the Bruins, but he is not going to give up a goal from center ice often. The defense cannot allow 13 goals in three games. The offense, for the most part, has been there. The back end just needs to do it's part.
Other CBJ News & Notes
● Still no Brandon Dubinsky, who has been downgraded to week-to-week. This is not good. At all. The Jackets need his face-off percentage, which was above 50% last year.
● Mark Letestu, also above 50% in face-offs, is also out. Once again, this really really hurts.
